A NOTE FROM THE COMPOSER: I started writing music for "The Blue Flower" in 1999, on the precipice of the new century, and assembled The Weimarband to play the music of the show in "alt-cabaret" performances in New York City at places like Joe's Pub, The Pyramid Club, Galapagos Art Space and The Bottom Line. This collection of remarkable musicians and personalities coalesced into a truly special and inspired band, and we reconvened in the fall of 2010, almost ten years after our first performance, to make the first complete recordings of the songs from the show. These are all musicians and people I love and respect deeply, and am profoundly grateful to all for their passion for the music, for their friendship and loyalty over the years, and for coming from far and wide to make these recordings possible.
- Jim Bauer, August 2011
